Lighten Up and Brighten Up!

I went to Vancouver yesterday and got blasted by lights! It was great! My energy stores were recharged, my enthusiasm was sparked and my body, brain and mind was awoken. How's that you may ask? With Lights for Health. They are as close as you can get to the sun in a light bulb. I have been using these full spectrum light bulbs since the fall and really noticing a difference.
I live in a place where it rains a lot in the winter, and the fall, and the spring, sometimes in the summer. It can be dark and gloomy for days. Like today, the rain was coming down I had a hard time pushing myself to go outside even though I knew that it would give me energy. I took my time to get out there and the longer it took me to leave my house the less focus and productivity I had. The lights do help me though, they wake me up in the morning by stimulating the production of serotonin (the get up and get happy hormone) and suppresses the production of melatonin (the relax and sleep well hormone). They get me going and focused.
So where am I going with this? Yesterday I experienced a light box with the mighty blue light and wow did it ever super charge me. These light boxes are incredible for those of us that live in an area that lacks in sunlight. They are also great if you work inside, have PMS, get depressed, have an addiction, want to lose weight and so much more.
I was thrilled to be sitting in front of this light. I could feel the energy of it charging my body. Light is so important to our health and our existence. We need light to really thrive and maintain a healthy body. We need natural light to be healthy. When we can't get it these lights are our next best.
I am writing a bigger article about light; the forgotten nutrient. It is in this week's e-zine which you can sign up for FREE at www.ahealthierme.ca
